CITY OF NEW ORLEANS ISSUES FILMING NOTICE FOR RESIDENTS IN THE CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy issued filming notices to New Orleans residents in the Central Business District the week of Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014 through Friday, Dec. 5, 2014.

On Tuesday, Dec. 2, a production company will film exterior scenes on Poydras St. between Tchoupitoulas St. and Carondelet St. As a result, there will be intermittent traffic controls between the hours of 6 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

On Wednesday, Dec. 3, a production company will film exterior scenes at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. As a result, Clara St., Sugar Bowl Dr. and West Stadium Dr. will close between the hours of 6 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. There will also be intermittent traffic controls on Poydras St. at that time.

On Thursday, Dec. 4 and Friday, Dec. 5, a production company will film exterior scenes in the westbound lane of Calliope St. between Camp St. and Carondelet St. As a result, the specified street will close between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. nightly.

Law enforcement will be on site ensure public safety and to help facilitate the work.

Film New Orleans within the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy assists productions with the City’s permitting process, connects productions with local crew and resources, and facilitates communication between productions and the local community.

In 2013, New Orleans hosted 60 tax credit film projects (TV, films, and commercials with budgets over $300,000), with direct spending of $456 million.
