FILMING NOTICE FOR RESIDENTS IN ALGIERS
NEW ORLEANS – Today, the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy issued a filming notice to residents in the Algiers neighborhood for Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015.
A production company will film exterior scenes on the 1200 block of Opelousas Avenue between Atlantic Avenue and Thayer Street. As a result, the eastbound side of the specified street will close from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
During those same hours, the production company will also film exterior scenes on the 100 block of Constitution Street between Hebert and Carmick streets. The sequence being filmed involves special effects containing simulated gunfire.
The New Orleans Fire Department and law enforcement will be on site ensure public safety and to help facilitate the work.
Film New Orleans within the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy assists productions with the City’s permitting process, connects productions with local crew and resources, and facilitates communication between productions and the local community.
In 2014, New Orleans hosted 60 tax credit film projects (TV, films, and commercials with budgets over $300,000), with direct spending of roughly $509 million.
