The Actor's Alliance: Fearless Auditions with On-Camera Training

Actors,

What does it take to have fearless auditions? How can you get the part if you don't know how you're performing on camera? Do you ever forget your lines when you feel nervous?

There are strategies you can employ to audition and not feel anxious. I mastered these tactics, and I can teach you how to use them, too.

When I asked my students what they most wanted to know, the top questions were:

1. How can I stop feeling nervous at my auditions?
2. What makes me go blank on lines when I thought I knew them?
3. How can I figure out what casting directors are looking for?

The answers to these questions and others actors ask will be covered in the next course offered by The Actors Alliance. In the six-week semester starting the week of
January 11, 2010, you can practice how to do your best in your auditions every time.

This 18-hour course is a bargain at only $250 if you register before classes start. After January 11, tuition goes up to $275.

Classes are held in Metairie, Covington, and Baton Rouge. Each class will cover what casting directors want so you can audition successfully. Watch yourself auditioning on-camera in each class and master the skills you need to win.

~ TEACHER CREDENTIALS ~

Veleka Gray is a professional actress, acting coach, writer, director, and producer with credits in film, television, and Broadway.

As an actress on afternoon television, she set several records. She starred in nine different roles in six soap operas, seven of which were contract roles, more than any other actor in history. And she is the only actress in soap history to play two roles on the same show at the same time that were not related in any way. Her best-remembered parts include Lyla Montgomery on "As the World Turns" and the unusual dual role of Ruby Collins and Dr. Sharon Reaves on "The Young & The Restless."

During the fifteen years she was on daytime, she was also a judge for the National Emmy Awards and is a member of the Academy. For six years she penned a biweekly column for "Soap Opera Digest," wrote feature articles on daytime celebrities for other fan magazines, and sold her first screenplay to Columbia Television. She recently scripted nineteen vignettes for her film "Reunion."

In 2000 Veleka returned to Louisiana and began training all levels of actors to work in film through her school, The Actors Alliance. Starting in August, she returned to acting by playing the title role in "Godmother," an entry in the 2009 48 Hour Film Project. She also played Dr. Souza in "Flag of My Father," Eleanor Cameron in "Flood Streets," Crystal Mortensen in "Reunion," The Nurse in "Television2," and is slated to perform in more features in 2010.

In October she directed both the play "Breakfast" for The People Program in New Orleans and her film "Reunion," which was shot in Covington. She was executive producer of the award-winning short film "Halfway," filmed in January and shown at the New Orleans Film Festival in October. She has several other film projects in development for 2010. She was inducted into the Louisiana Hall of Fame in 2004.
