The New Orleans Police Department
The City of New Orleans provides professional and experienced New Orleans Police Officers to work alongside film, video and photographic productions. Units are comprised of off-duty officers working on a voluntary basis. Police supervision is required for street closures and intermittent traffic control (ITC) and may be required for driving shots, pyrotechnic or other special effects.
The New Orleans Police Department will staff and coordinate productions pursuant to the the guidelines found here.

- ALL REQUESTS for officer use shall be submitted to the Office of Film & Video and will then be vetted to the Superintendent's Designee.
- Any depictions of the New Orleans Police Department must be approved by the Superintendent's Designee and the Superintendent of Police. A script submission will be required.
Rates of Pay
The following are the appropriate Rates of Pay as quoted by the New Orleans Police Department. These are quotes only.
$30 per hour per Officer (Base Pay)
$40 per hour per Supervisor (Base Pay)
*Plus an Administrative Fee of 14% (10% to administrator of paid detail; 4% to New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation)
*Overnight Security will assess an additional $5 per hour for work performed between the hours of 11:00pm to 7:00am. Additionally, an overtime rate of (Base Pay X 1.5) for each hour or partial hour over the scheduled ending time.
Supervision requirements include:
For every (3) Officers = One ranking officer (Sergeant or higher)
For every (3) Sergeants = One Lieutenant or higher
For every (3) Lieutenants = One Captain or higher
*An additional $5 will be added to the supervisor's hourly wage for each increase of supervision level.
The use of a motorcycle or mounted officer include:
$50 per hour per Officer and $70 for motorcycle supervisors
$150 per horse deployment on site
*Mounted officers receive an additional hour before and after arrival on site for horse preparation.
*Hourly rates for N.O.P.D. services are at a premium during special events such as but not limited to: Mardi Gras, Holidays, Jazz Fest, etc. Production companies are encouraged to take this into account and budget accordingly.
Equipment
Requests for use of police equipment shall be submitted in writing, including dates and times of usage, and the name of the production's responsible representative.
Uniforms can be purchased with the permission of the Superintendent of Police or Designee. A limited quantity of badges will be lent out by N.O.P.D. There will be an incurred cost for quantities that N.O.P.D. cannot supply.
A daily rental rate is listed for equipment below: (Equipment prices not listed must be negotiated)
$150.00 per horse
$150.00 per marine boat
$75.00 per motorcycle
$75.00 per scooter
$75.00 per cruiser
$75.00 per van
$75.00 per miscellaneous vehicles
$50.00 use of tow truck for vehicle relocation
*If there are scenes involving high-speed pursuits, the media production company shall furnish their own vehicle and, if approved, the department may provide the necessary police decals (at cost).
Music Videos
Music Video productions require at least (1) ranking officer. Overnight Security will assess an additional $5 per hour for work performed between the hours of 11:00pm to 7:00am. Additionally, an overtime rate of (Base Pay X 1.5) for each hour or partial hour over the scheduled ending time.
Cancellations
A twenty-four (24) hour cancellation notice is needed for all media productions or compensation will be assessed in the amount of 4 hours of pay per officer and supervisor.
Invoicing/Pay Schedule
An invoice of amounts payable shall be submitted to the Locations Manager or accounts payable as scheduled by the Superintendent or Designee. The amount, plus the Administrator's Fee is then due in full to
